The tournament will feature some notable tier-two teams such as Sprout, Winstrike, Copenhagen Flames, and Movistar Riders.
Slovakian organizer REPUBLEAGUE has announced a new tournament series which is set to kick off with its first season, slated to take place from April 14 to June 13 and boasting approximately a $71,000 prizepool (€60,000) with a top-heavy distribution.
The event will have 16 teams in attendance, twelve of whom will be determined through invites and four via a series of Czech-Slovakian and European qualifiers, played over the course of the next two weeks.
The tournament will begin with a Swiss stage, which will run from April 14-May 12, followed by a double-elimination playoffs bracket on May 19-June 13.
Ten of the twelve invited teams have already been confirmed to participate, most of whom reside between the 20th-40th place in the HLTV.org team ranking: Winstrike, Sprout, Copenhagen Flames, Movistar Riders, SAW, SINNERS, Anonymo, Endpoint, FORZE, and Entropiq.
